USHOOT is a ball launcher to be placed in casino roulettes than puts the ball in play, which is currently done entirely by hand. By using the USHOOT launcher the casino can standardize the shooting process offering consistency and repeatability while maintaining the required randomness for their line of business and keeping the human input by the croupier.
The project was developed for a newly formed company at the time (NIDECA S.L). This product did not exist on the market at that point, requiring new design and development to target casinos and other gambling establishments.
The customer provided as input an idea and a business model, and required a designer that could develop a functional product starting from scratch. The development process of this product was extensive, given that it is a complex piece of engineering whose initial requirements included very stringent standards about its functionality and toughness.
The USHOOT system is designed to be extremely tough, as it had to withstand the spring-charging operation, and some rough use that could be expected through its life cycle; at the same time, it had to be completely made of plastic, be easy to produce exclusively in injection molds, and be consistent with the force applied to the ball during the lauch.
The final product as designed met and exceeded the requirements of the customer. In its final form, the USHOOT system is built out of Polyamide and PE, it can be fixed to any roulette surface via soft non-marking adhedsive, efectively delivering the ball in play while being light and keeping a streamlined, nice-looking profile.
