A tribute to the BMW i8 Spyder concept, modeled and rendered entirely on 3DS Max, using Mental-ray rendering engine.
Using the 3DS editable mesh modeling system allows to quickly create this accurate 3D representation of one of the most striking (and a personal favorite) BMW concepts.
The finished model consists of a high-poly collapsed mesh consisting of over half a million facets which, despite the lack of technical drawings avaliable for the concept itself, accurately describes the volumes and geometries of the car.
It's also rendered using the Mental-ray engine and Final Gather as indirect illumination method, all of which helps the user-created materials to make those gorgeous looking lines of the concept shine.
